Hannah the Pet Society’s and mission is simple yet powerful: to remove the barriers that prevent families from experiencing the joy of having a Pet and to ensure that no Pet is needlessly euthanized due to financial constraints. Founded in late 2010 by Dr. Scott Campbell, a visionary veterinarian and Pet lover, along with a group of passionate professionals, we are on a mission to revolutionize Pet care.

Dr. Campbell, renowned for his role in building Banfield Pet Hospitals into a global leader in veterinary care, brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to improving the lives of Pets and their families. Through his experience, he recognized the need to address key challenges in the traditional veterinary care model, such as affordability, behavior problems, and inadequate matching of Pets with their forever homes.

With a rich background in promoting preventive Pet care through the creation of Wellness Plans at Banfield, Dr. Campbell understood the importance of comprehensive care. However, he recognized that Wellness Plans alone were not sufficient to cover the costs of unexpected injuries and illnesses that Pets may face. The traditional fee-for-service model oNen leN Pet parents facing difficult decisions when their beloved companions needed medical treatments that were beyond their means.

To tackle these challenges head-on, Dr. Campbell explored the concept of Pet insurance. While the intention was to provide a solution that would offer fixed monthly prices for all emergency and illness care, the existing regulatory framework classified Pet insurance as “property and casualty insurance.” Compliance with complex regulations resulted in exorbitant costs that were passed on to Pet Parents, making Pet insurance unaffordable and unsustainable.

Undeterred by these obstacles, Dr. Campbell embarked on a new path to redefine Pet care. He envisioned a membership-based model that would provide comprehensive, lifelong care for Pets without the limitations and financial burden associated with traditional insurance.
